Preventive protection for machine shafts against wear grooving, with wear-resistant coatings matched to your operating parameters.
Shaft sleeves protect machine shafts against damage (wear grooving). If a shaft is in contact with a static component of higher material hardness during rotation, wear grooving is inevitable, visible as homogeneous, radial damage in the areas of the sealing rings. This leads to leakage and weakens the shaft structure.
The shaft sleeve is positioned on the shaft in the sealing area and fixed by shrink-fitting or a fastening element. Sealing towards the atmospheric side is achieved by an O-ring fitted axially or between the sleeve and the shaft. They are made one-piece or, for easier installation without dismantling system components, as a split version.
Shaft sleeves are manufactured from steel, stainless steel and nickel alloys. The base material is sufficient for use under unproblematic operating conditions. When dirt and abrasive media additionally affect operation, custom versions with a wear-resistant coating on the outer diameter are required.
Shaft sleeves are precision sleeves with high concentricity. The tolerances on the inner diameter are matched to standard shafts and ensure the fixation of the press-fitted or shrink-fitted sleeve. The dimensions on the outer diameter are aligned with the sealing rings.
Material selection and/or coating are matched to the respective operating parameters. Coatings reduce wear and ensure longer machine operating times by applying wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant layers to shafts or shaft sleeves.
High-velocity oxy-fuel spraying using kerosene as fuel; a spray coating of tungsten carbide, chromium carbide or titanium carbide is applied.
A spray coating is applied at high velocity by means of ionized and dissociated gas (plasma). Thanks to extremely high temperatures (up to 30,000 °C), almost all materials (predominantly ceramics) can be processed.
A fuel-gas/oxygen flame serves as the heat source. Preferably used to process low-melting metals.
The field of use covers the entire high- and low-temperature range in combination with various shaft seals. Fields of application are the chemical and food industries as well as pharmaceuticals. Shaft sleeves are used in a variety of machines such as radial and axial fans, grinders, mixers and centrifuges.
